Wisconsin A∆K Convention Wintergreen Resort, Wisconsin Dells

On April 26 and 27, 2024, our state convention was held in the Dells.

Delta and Tau were responsible for providing the food and beverages for the hospitality room Friday night.  It was very well-attended.

Here are the incoming and out-going presidents, from left, Joanne Loy, our new Wisconsin president, and Theresa Ness, our immediate past Wisconsin president.

Many things were accomplished, new bylaws approved, many officer reports, and of course elections of new officers.

Here is Ann Ainslee, our Regional President, presiding over the Installation Ceremony.

She installed each officer one by one.   Joanne Loy is our new Wisconsin ADK President.

Here they all are.

There was a lovely memorial service for sisters we have lost to the Omega Chapter.

Theresa, our outgoing president, received applause and a very lovely tribute with this special finale.

You can see by her facial expression she was touched.  We all were.

The table settings were beautiful,

and the lunch was delicious.

All in all, it defied the old adage about only conFerences being fun.  This convention really was fun, along with the tremendous exchange of lots of great ideas for fundraising and more.

Special thanks to all the sisters across the state who sent the photos they took on our special day.

For Founders' Day 2023 we planned a luncheon at the Racine Zoo with Beth Heidorn, the Zoo Director as our speaker, but she had to cancel due to a strong wind-storm and power outages the night before, necessitating closing the Zoo for several days and feeding the animals completely by hand.  She spoke at our May meeting, and we had Judge Kristin Cafferty speak to us for Founders' Day about her educational program for juvenile offenders.  We had made Zoo-themed centerpieces, which we raffled off.

Other information your chapter wishes to include:
Our Chapter Website has pictures and history going back to 1981, including the beautiful old handmade scrapbooks.  Take a look here.

Wisconsin Alpha Delta Kappa Newsletter March 2023

Please Note: The published version of this newsletter may be found here.

Dear Wisconsin A𝚫K Sisters,

Even if there is still snow on the ground in March, we know that spring is coming! We have so many exciting events to look forward to as sisters of A∆K! I hope to see many of you soon at our Wisconsin State Conference on April 28-29. Your Zeta sisters in Kenosha can’t wait to welcome you!

Another A∆K S/P/N president recently shared the following poem in her newsletter. The poem puts into words the relationship we have with our A∆K sisters~

Sisterhood

Sisterhood is many things.
It’s a warm smile on a cold and rainy day, a friendly hug,
a cheerful hello...
It’s all that a good and lasting friendship is, only better.
It’s treasured.
It’s sacred.
It’s knowing that there will always be someone there for you.
It’s dreams shared, and goals achieved.
It’s counting on others and being counted on.
It is real.

Author unknown

I am so grateful to be part of a wonderful organization filled with such amazing women as each of you! Thank you for everything you do for students, each other, and your community!

With A𝚫K Sisterhood, Theresa

Wisconsin Alpha Delta Kappa State Newsletter, January 2023

Please Note: The published version of this newsletter may be found here.

Dear Wisconsin A𝚫K Sisters,

Happy New Year! The New Year is always a time of reflection of the year that just ended, and anticipation for what the new year may bring. As teachers, January marks the halfway point in the school year. By January you know your students, and your school year has developed its rhythm. January is a natural time to set goals and plan how you will achieve your goals. After a busy fall and holiday season, now is a great time for all chapters to make sure they are on track to meet the goals they set for themselves in their Chapter Needs Assessment. Please let me know if I can assist your chapter with goals or in any other way.

With A𝚫K Sisterhood,
Theresa
