Wisconsin A∆K Conference, Eau Claire

The 2025 Wisconsin A∆K Conference took place in Eau Claire with Nu Chapter hosting. It was a great experience with sisters from all over the state, and fun was had by all. Here is the beautiful Program created by Robin Barnes from Tau Chapter in Racine, so you can see the order of events.

That night the Hospitality included a pizza supper for us. Wow!

Friday night the state Board met. This was their agenda:

The Council of Presidents met Saturday morning and announced the winner of the Host Chapter Grant would be the school in Madison nominated by Delta Chapter.

Then we had continental breakfast and an opening session with WI-A∆K President Joanne Loy, and our special guest, Jennie Johnson, our North Central Regional President. Watch the recording here.

There were three Breakout Sessions to choose from:

A. Salvage Quilting by Alice Weickelt.  Salvage quilts are made from the SELVEDGES you throw away.

Alice presented a huge trunk show of her amazing quilts made entirely from the selvedges of fabric, and heard each one’s unique story.  All the participants were thrilled and came away saying, "You HAVE to see the quilts!" and "Wait'll you see the quilts!"

Here are three samples, but there were so many more!

B.  Bee Keeping by Dan Strehlau.  He taught about the life of honey bees and basics of bee keeping. He thoroughly covered the hive, terminology, and equipment needed. He was so knowledgeable.

C.  Bugs by John Hempel. We were treated to an expo of a worldwide exotic insect collection which included up to 1500 of the largest, most beautiful, and most interesting six legged creatures that exist.

We were treated to a delicious box lunch, followed by our Keynote Speaker, Kim Gloede, Tau Chapter,  who spoke to us about her visit to Tanzania with 9 other A∆K members from all over the U.S. to see and experience MAHOCE, the Manyara Holistic Center, which was our International World Understanding Project C.H.E.A.R. ("Making a Children's Home with Education and Agriculture a Reality") in 1921-1923.  You can see the pictures and print version of Kim's talk here.

Then we had "Chair Yoga" with Ellen Dovre, followed by Joanne's closing session, which you can watch here.
